Support Resources

Need Help?

Whether it's for yourself or someone you care about, the National Gambling
Support Network is here to assist you.

  • Free and confidential support for all adults (18+) in Great Britain
  • Available 24/7 via phone or live chat
  • Trained staff are available to help anyone affected by gambling.

The National Gambling Support Network (NGSN) provides free, confidential, and non-judgmental treatment, advice, and support for anyone impacted by gambling.

This means they support not only those directly affected by gambling but also those impacted by someone else’s gambling. Whether it's mental well-being or financial difficulties, they can guide you back on track.

You can access their services through our website to find the support that best suits your needs.

How the NGSN Can Help You:

  • They assist in finding the right person or place for you to receive support, considering your situation, location, and personal preferences.

  • Together, you’ll create a plan tailored to your needs. With a wide range of services available, you’re sure to find something that works for you.

  • As with any journey, the path may change. If your support needs or preferences evolve, they’ll be there to guide you every step of the way.

Support Offered by the NGSN:

There are many support options available, and the NGSN will work with you to find the one that best suits you. You won’t be judged or blamed for your experiences.
Below is an overview of the available support:

  • Therapeutic Support

Individual treatment with a qualified practitioner, which can take place in person or online. Group sessions may also be offered.

  • Peer-Led Support

You can choose to speak with trained peer counselors who have themselves overcome gambling-related challenges. Sessions can be one-on-one or in groups.

  • Residential Centers

If you’re interested in staying at a residential center, an admission period will be required.

One of these centers, Adferiad, offers a range of residential services for those facing more complex life challenges. They provide free treatment for gamblingrelated issues.

Another center, Gordon Moody, has separate facilities for men and women. Gambling treatment is free, but you may need to contribute to your accommodation costs. Don’t let this discourage you from applying; they can help you explore different options to access the support you need. If you qualify for housing benefits, these costs may be almost fully covered, except for a small weekly personal service charge of around £10.

  • Online Resources

The NGSN may recommend online tools and resources to help you understand your gambling behavior and support your treatment. Some of these tools are available below:

  • Learn how to reduce your gambling through self-exclusion.
  • Read about gambling-blocking software to prevent online gambling.
  • Take our short self-assessment quiz to understand the impact gambling may have on you.

Try our spending calculator to see how much time and money you spend on gambling.
